Back from Arizona/Utah!

Perhaps it was silly for me to enter a blog challenge right before I lost access to a computer for an entire week. Luckily, Oliver is letting us start this challenge all over again.

Friday night, I got back from my week of sister-time in Arizona and Utah. We had left Monday morning and drove to Sedona, Arizona. The next day, we hiked the rim of the Grand Canyon.

Here’s an image of my sister, Thao, looking down into the canyon.

There were some amazing photos of us standing on a ledge looking down, but unfortunately, Thao has those on her camera!

Wednesday, we went to Monument Valley where we were taken around on Mustangs! It was just me, Thao, our guide Jay, and a new friend Danner whom I dragged into going with us.

Here, Jay, me, and Danner are inside of an immense cavernous rock. We lay down and looked at shapes the rock formations made. These photos don’t do the area any justice. I felt thrown back into the Wild West. I finally understand why so many westerns were filmed at Monument Valley.

The four of us rode around in a giant dust storm. I had sand blow into my face and I got to gallop on my Mustang, Skye. My guide, if anything, felt like a friend, and afterwards we went out for dinner where I got to try Navajo Frybread. If you can’t tell, Wednesday’s touring of Monument Valley was by far my favorite.

Thursday, Thao and I went to Moab, Utah and toured the red rocks there. We even stripped down and jumped into a seclued part of the Colorado River. It was magical. That night, we lay out and looked up at the stars.

My trip was exhilarating. It was breath-taking and life-changing. I’m so glad to have gotten to share it with none-other than the best sister in the world.

And it’s good to be home.

I love Moab. My Uncle used to live there. Did you go see any of the Indian ruins? Possible get some petrified rock?
